Dear Doreen ...

My friend, Doreen, texted me ... "U haven't posted on your blog since September 7. That is all!! Good night." I laughed so hard.

So, for Doreen, and the few of you who are faithful followers, I'm here, all is well, but I'm taking a break. I'm jotting down what's notable each day so I can catch up on my blog (book) when I get a chance. Right now I'm bogged down with too much stuff.

See you soon ... could be tomorrow ... could be next week ... could be in October.

Blessings!

Peach Preserves

I helped Jon make spiced peach preserves. He made it last year and it was great! We cut down the sugar this year because we don't need it and the peaches were sweet enough. We had extra peaches left over so we cut up some and froze them for our Yonana and Diane and Randie came and took the rest of the peaches home.

Lois came in the afternoon and we finished one rubbermaid and then Jon went with us and we mailed 7 rubbermaids. They are now done for several months. All 3 of us are very happy about that.

Welcome Back, Jon!

Jon returned home this afternoon after visiting his best friend, Jacob, and his wife, Hannah, in Indiana. He left last Friday afternoon and had a really great time. We face timed him on Friday evening, but we didn't talk again. Just texted. This morning I told Jessie that Jon was coming home today and she ran down the hall yelling, "Jon home! Jon home!"  When he came home, she ran to him, gave him a big hug and said "Jon back!" I think someone missed her brother.

There's nothing quite like a child screaming in a restaurant (or anywhere for that matter!).The tables were turned tonight, as the saying goes. We went out to dinner, I coughed, and Jessie lost it. She proceeded to SCREAM ... "NO, I said NO. Bad Boy! NO! NO!" I must say, that wasn't fun. I'm sure all eyes were on us, but I didn't even look up. Just tried to calm her and continue eating, trying not to choke again!

Labor Day

And that's exactly what I did. Lois brought her Mom over at 10:30 a.m. and they left at 7:00 p.m. Lois and I packed rubbermaids all afternoon and early evening. We stopped for lunch, thanks to Lois and Ortha. We are almost done. There are 6 completed boxes ready to go to UPS on Wednesday. There are 3 more that need some filling. One will be completed on Wednesday.

Jessie had a fun day with Lois and Ortha here. Lois likes to make Jessie laugh, Lois laughs, then Jessie says, "Poor Lois! Funny!"

Sunday

I couldn't come up with a spiffy title. Sunday was the best I could do!

Jess and I had a late breakfast after she got a bath. Then we had an early lunch with Jean and Karen at Marcus Grill. It was our "Single Ladies Once-A-Month Lunch After Church" lunch. We had a nice visit but since there was a child's birthday party right next to where we were sitting in another room, Jess wanted to go home quickly. She did pretty good, though.

Jessie sat in her hammock and sang Jesus songs while I watered Jon's garden and my flowers. I can't remember the last time it rained. I did paper work and read a bit. A quiet day.

Friday and Saturday

Friday
Lois and I spent the entire afternoon and early evening packing rubbermaids. I was barely able to move by the time we quit. We took a break for a late lunch at Chili's. Jessie and Rachel went out to breakfast, Target then home. It was a beautiful day and Jessie spent some time outside swinging in her hammock.

Saturday
Today was a day to recover. I stayed in bed until 10:30 !!!! Jess and I had a quick breakfast then I did paperwork. Post office, bank and KFC for lunch. More paperwork, several loads of wash, read a bit in a book and took a nap. More paperwork. I'm behind - again!

More Shopping

Lois and I spent the entire day shopping again. Walmart, Target and Home Depot. I think we got 99% of the items she wanted to pack and ship to Haiti. Tomorrow we pack. My family room dining room looks like a warehouse!
